Experimenting with the IM/Chat services

Chad over at Library Voice posted about integrating the MeeboMe chat widget into a desktop IM client. (In English, that's being able to log in, from my end, to the service that creates my chat box and to the other IM/chat services that I use in a desktop application, rather than the Meebo website.) Why would I want to do this? Well, it gives me more control over the various services, and better alerts when I get a login at the chat box.

So, I'm going to be experimenting with this idea for a bit, probably at least a week, and see how it works out. That does mean that I might not appear "online" as much, even when I am, depending on how the system works. If you need to contact me, go ahead and use any of the contact methods as usual, since most of them will take messages if needed (or in the case of email--it is a message).

As an aside, I'm still microphone-less, so Skype is limited to chat--unless you contact me first by IM or email and let me know I need to borrow a mike from someone. I can definitely do that, it'll just take a little lead time.
